The CAF Best player of the year award or African footballer of the year award rewards the Best African Player in a particular season.
The award has been in existence every year since 1970. However, France football was responsible for giving the African Best Player award from 1970-1994 called the France Football African Player of the Year. CAF Player of the Year awards was finally created by CAF in 1992 and they have been handling the award ceremony since then.
The CAF awards has been taking place every year except 2020 and 2021 when it was cancelled due to Corona Virus pandemic.
